Quick answer

Corfu's New Port sits next to the Old Town, 2–3 km from the centre, and receives ferries from Igoumenitsa and Italy. From there you get around by pre-booked private transfer, taxi or KTEL bus (green to resorts, blue for town). For distant resorts, with luggage or late at night, a fixed-price transfer is the most reliable.

Corfu's main harbour is the New Port, next to the Old Town and the Old Fortress, just 2–3 km from the centre. This is where ferries and cruise ships dock. Here's how to reach your accommodation with the least hassle.

Which ferries arrive in Corfu

The New Port receives ferries from Igoumenitsa (very frequent, about 1.5 hours), as well as international routes from Italy (Ancona, Bari, Venice, Brindisi). The same port serves cruise ships.

How far is the port from the main areas

  • Corfu Town (centre): about 2–3 km, 5–10 minutes
  • Airport (CFU): about 4 km, 10 minutes
  • Glyfada: about 16 km, 25 minutes
  • Paleokastritsa: about 25 km, 40 minutes
  • Sidari: about 35 km, 45 minutes
  • Kavos: about 47 km, 1 hour

Transfer options from the port

Taxi

Taxis wait outside the port. The ride into the centre is short, but after a ferry arrival queues form and the price to distant resorts adds up.

Bus (KTEL)

The green long-distance buses connect the town with the resorts (Paleokastritsa, Sidari, Kavos), while the blue town buses cover the town and nearby areas. Cheap, but with luggage and a change in town they're less convenient.

Pre-booked private transfer

The most relaxed option: your driver waits at the port with a fixed price known in advance and takes you straight to your accommodation. See Scoot Transfer in Corfu.

Why a private transfer from the port

With Scoot Transfer you skip the crush after disembarking: you choose a vehicle for your luggage (Sedan, SUV or Van) and for longer routes (Paleokastritsa, Sidari, Kavos) you have a fixed price with no surprises. Ideal for late arrivals and families.

Tip: if you arrive late on the Igoumenitsa ferry, book your transfer in advance — port taxis sell out fast at peak.

When each one is worth it

For distant resorts, with luggage or late at night, a private transfer is the most predictable. For the centre or budget travel, a taxi or KTEL bus is enough. Arriving by plane? See the airport (CFU) transfer and the getting around Corfu guide.
